When the Pitta is out of balance, individuals experience a slew of negative emotions that can be off-putting considering their pleasant personality otherwise. Pitta types should stick to tastes and flavors like sweet, bitter and astringent. Pitta types favor cool food and liquids over hot and spicy food. Diary products is a great option since it will cool down the innate fiery attitude. Signs of imbalance in Pitta includes Diarrhea, excessive hunger, heartburn and bacterial infections. Alcohol, oily and spicy food, fermented food can create an imbalance. People who have a predominant Kapha are heavy, slow, lazy and need constant motivation to get things done. They have a strong build and great stamina but feel extremely lethargic. They are stable and methodical and prefer dry and warm climates. Kapha types gain weight easily which is something that they need to control if they want to live a balanced lifestyle. They are down to earth and happy and rarely loose emotional balance. Kapha types have a slower and heavier digestion. Stimulation of all kinds can help in beating the slow and lethargic feeling that Kapha types feel. An imbalance of the Kapha dosha leads to sluggish bowels, water retention, weight gain, excessive sleep and other such problems. A light, low-fat, warm diet with pungent, bitter and astringent tastes are advisable for Kapha types. Boiled and steamed vegetables, ripe fruits, honey are great diet options to keep the Kapha dosha is in control. Mild spices and calming herbal teas with peppermint, raspberry, and fenugreek are perfect staples.
